While digital transformation has significantly improved efficiency across businesses, it has also introduced new security risks. The ability to access corporate data from virtually anywhere creates additional attack vectors that cybercriminals can exploit.

Protecting Corporate Data Against Unauthorized Access

Over the past 12 months, cyberattacks have increased significantly, affecting thousands of organizations worldwide. One notable example was the 2020 attack on SolarWinds, which enabled attackers to gain access to the systems and data of thousands of businesses and government agencies. Similarly, the Microsoft Exchange Server attacks in early 2021 impacted tens of thousands of organizations globally, causing widespread and difficult-to-quantify damage.
Employees are often one of the most frequently exploited attack vectors. Approximately three-quarters of cyberattacks involving organizations originate from within or involve the misuse of legitimate internal access. Protecting sensitive business data therefore requires a comprehensive security strategy. This starts with assigning appropriate user permissions and implementing effective access restrictions from the outset. In addition, organizations need continuous—and ideally automated—monitoring and verification processes.
A comprehensive Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution helps organizations defend against both internal and external threats.

IAM solutions ensure that all digital identities are managed in a structured and transparent manner throughout their entire lifecycle. They define who has access to which IT systems and data, when that access is permitted, and under what conditions. Every access request is controlled, monitored, and fully traceable.
IAM also enables organizations to implement secure access management while complying with applicable regulatory requirements. Together with KOGIT GmbH, OEDIV SecuSys provides organizations across the DACH region with consulting services for consistent Identity & Access Management (IAM) and Identity Governance. Our services include:
- Analysis
- Consulting
- Solution Design & Architecture
- Implementation of IAM solutions (including optional hosting of the required infrastructure in the OEDIV Private Cloud)
- Operational Support
In our upcoming information series, we will explore the unique cybersecurity challenges faced by different industries and demonstrate practical solutions for securely managing sensitive data.
